Sutton Middle School

An International Baccalaureate World School

  • Sutton is an International Baccalaureate World School
Sutton Middle School is an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) World School offering the Middle Years Programme (MYP) in collaboration with North Atlanta High School. This program promotes active lifelong learning through interdisciplinary planning. Students are encouraged to question and evaluate information critically, to seek out and explore the links between their classroom subjects, and to develop an awareness of their place in the world.

In the spring of 2008, Sutton and North Atlanta High School received joint authorization as an IB MYP, becoming the only schools in the city of Atlanta or Fulton County, public or private, to offer this course of study. In addition, all of Sutton’s feeder elementary schools offer the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). Therefore, the North Atlanta cluster currently offers the only fully articulated IB K-12 educational model in Georgia.

Both Sutton campuses are open to receive all students 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the instructional day; on a regular schedule, when the day begins at 9:15 A.M., students may enter the building at 8:45 A.M., this is when bus riders may exit the bus. Students may not enter either building prior to 8:45 A.M. unless they are enrolled in a school-provided before care program (i.e., Kiddos).

Students must depart within 15 minutes of the end of the instructional day unless they are supervised in an after school program (i.e., Kiddos) or extracurricular activity.

*Students who arrive prior to the school opening times below or do not depart after the closing times above may be placed in Kiddos (and parents/guardians will be responsible for any fees) and may be referred to the school social worker.
