Welcome to the D. M. Therrell School of Business and Entrepreneurship where we proudly offer an abundance of unique learning opportunities to make a difference and positively influence the lives of students.  Atlanta Public Schools constantly strives to “become one of the nation’s top performing urban school district in which all students will become lifelong learners equipped with the appropriate skills and competencies to become contributing members of society.”  Our school works diligently to prepare its students to meet and exceed that goal.  We are proud to among the schools who successfully acheived AYP (adequate yearly progress) in the district and plan to continue in the future.

 

The theme for the 2008-2009 school year is “Programmed for a A Pathway of Purpose and Power.” Students will broaden their horizons meet the demands of the global world.  Each student has the opportunity to engage in unique learning opportunities such as college visit tours, business leadership courses, work-based learning experiences, and mentoring from community business leaders.  All graduates of our school leave with viable post secondary options and student portfolios.  
 

  • NOTICE TO ALL APS STUDENTS, PARENTS, AND GUARDIANS

    This notice is to inform you that the Atlanta Public Schools has received a subpoena related to Fulton County Superior Court case 13SC117954. The subpoena requires the school system to produce information that may contain the education information of students, including student identification numbers.  Please note that the subpoena is directed to the school system, and you are not required to take any action or provide any information.  

    The school system will comply with the subpoena and provide the subpoenaed information unless restrained in some manner by legal authority. The school system is providing you this notice as required by the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Should you choose to seek protective action, it is your responsibility to take the necessary steps with appropriate court officials. The school system must comply with the subpoena unless restrained in some manner by legal authority, and the school system is not allowed to withhold the subpoenaed information based upon a request by a student, parent, or guardian.

    Court officials will have access to the subpoenaed information on or after May 17, 2013, unless restrained in some manner by legal authority.

    Please be assured that Atlanta Public Schools takes the privacy of students and their families very seriously and discloses information related to students and their families only in a manner allowed by law.

  • Superintendent Search Committee community meetings

    The Superintendent Search Committee will hold community meetings at schools in every cluster. The purpose of the meetings is to obtain input regarding the profile for the next superintendent.  The meeting dates and locations are listed below. All meetings will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

     

    ·       May 15: North Region meetings will be held at Harper-Archer MS, the Coretta Scott King Young Women’s Leadership Academy and Sutton MS.

    ·       May 16: South Region meetings will be held at Long MS and Price MS.

    ·       May 20: West Region meetings will be held at Brown MS, Bunche MS and Young MS.

    ·       May 21: East Region meetings will be held at Inman MS and King MS.

  • 3.1. 13 Parent Update: Fight at Therrell High School

    At approximately 9 a.m., there was a fight at Therrell High School. Seven students were taken to the Therrell Law principal's office. While in the office, one of the seven students (16 year old male) cursed-out Therrell Law Principal Libra Royster and tried to attack her. The student picked up a conference table and threw it at Ms. Royster. Ms. Royster and a female 10th grade student were struck by the table. The male student was subdued and arrested.The female student who was struck by the table thrown at Principal Royster was transported to Grady Hospital for minor injuries. The situation was immediately contained. Only the students involved in the altercation were impacted by the incident. Normal school operations were not interrupted by the incident.
